A Home from Home!
The
Knowe was built at the beginning of the twentieth century and enjoys
many original Victorian and Edwardian features. Constructed as a superior
family home its ownership passed to the church who used it as a restful
retreat for overworked clergy. For twenty five years the Knowe has been
a Guest House providing similar rest to numerous travellers from all
over the world.
We
are situated in Rob Roy country beneath the famous Crags, with natural
woodland to the rear abounding with wildlife. The front rooms overlook
the picturesque town of Callander, Gateway to the Highlands, and enjoy
truly magnificent views down the valley to the Loch Lomond and Trossachs
National Park, an area famous for history and beauty.
Accommodation
in the Knowe is spacious and comprises one suite and three en suite
rooms. In addition to the usual **** facilities all of our rooms have
TVs with integral DVDs and Premier Sky channels.
Our
dining room has French doors leading onto a substantial terrace where
our guests can enjoy magnificent views over the National Park from our
south facing gardens. We have a comprehensive selection of breakfast
foods to satisfy every palate. Packed lunches can be provided by request.
We
have a private car park with a secure indoor area for the storage of
bicycles and an area for drying wet clothing. Once parked at the Knowe
a two-minute stroll down a pedestrian pathway takes you to the town
centre with all its places of interest.
Callander
is home to a PGA golf course (www.callandergolfclub.co.uk), which is
within 200 meters of the Knowe. The magnificent clubhouse offers all
day food and refreshments to visitors, players and non-players alike.
A
five-minute walk will take you to our superb leisure complex incorporating
a swimming pool with spa bath, steam room and sauna, an indoor bowling
area, climbing wall, a fitness suite, a sports hall and outdoor tennis
courts. Nearby lochs offer a wide variety of water sports including
water-skiing and sailing. There is an outdoor bowling club immediately
adjacent to the Knowe for which we have a corporate membership for our
guests.
